You were not re-elected, you selected yourself
Rapper Falz took to Twitter to attack Babajide Sanwo-Olu who took to the platform to thank the people of Lagos for re-electing him as governor of the state.
In his statement, Sanwo-Olu said he is deeply humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support and trust of the good people of Lagos State.
He also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for leaving a legacy of fairness and election results that reflect the will of the people.

“TThank you Lagosians! I am deeply touched and grateful for the overwhelming support and trust of the brave people of Lagos State. I am honored to be re-elected Governor and pledge to continue working tirelessly to deliver a better Lagos for all. Thanks for believing in me. I have personally written my thoughts to you in a letter. I hope you read it and really feel my passion for Lagos and for you.
“These elections have tested us profoundly as a people. This victory is not just mine, but belongs to every Lagosian. I have worked hard to fulfill this responsibility of governing the largest sub-national economy in Africa. We certainly could not have done on our own. Thanks to Almighty God and all of Lagos. Huge gratitude goes to our great party, APC, and to our elected President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Thank you to the President of Nigeria , Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for your commitment to leaving a legacy of fairness and election results that reflect the will of the people Thank you to my wife, Ibijoke, my Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and all other candidates for their contributions.Lagos has chosen competence and experience, in this march towards true greatness.
“During the campaign, we unfortunately saw a lot of divisive rhetoric used. Elections should be about ability, competence and experience, not ethnicity or religion. “being divided by hateful and hurtful ethnic profiling. Skirmishes in some LGAs resulting in injury are wrong and do not reflect who we are. Law enforcement and security agencies have been tasked with ensuring that people convicted suffer the full wrath of the law.Very important, and this cannot be overstated: what unites us as Lagosians is far more important and substantial than the differences that exist between us.
“As Governor, I will do everything in my power to ensure a true healing. We will continue to lead an inclusive government, which cares for all people of Lagos, wherever they live in the state. The true spirit of Lagos is a welcoming, inclusive and liberal spirit, not a spirit of division and exclusion, and in the days, weeks and months to come, we will continue to do everything to demonstrate and amplify it. We must reaffirm the spirit of solidarity and unity that binds us as Lagosians. Our work will continue and there will be no pause. The dividends of democracy must continue to be distributed. Thank you again dear Lagosians. Igbega Ipinle Eko, Ajumose Ni O!
Reacting to this, Falz claimed that Sanwo-Olu was not re-elected, but chose himself. He also claimed that everyone saw what happened.
He tweeted;
“You were not re-elected. You have selected yourself. Everyone saw it unfold. You’re just fooling yourself”
