Yobe APC to appeal recognition of Machina as senatorial candidate
All Progressives Congress (APC) Yobe State branch president Mohammed Gadaka said he would appeal Wednesday’s Federal High Court ruling recognizing Bashir Machina as the APC’s candidate for the Yobe North Senatorial District ahead of the 2023 election.
Gadaka, who has insisted that Senate Speaker Senator Ahmad Lawan is the APC’s bona fide nominee for the Yobe North Senate District election, said they “have a duty to protect and support Senator Ahmed Lawan’s twenty-three years of exemplary tenure as a legislator”.
The statement read;
“We are aware of the Wednesday, September 28, 2022 decision of the Federal High Court in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, regarding the upcoming Yobe North Senatorial District election. However, we respectfully reject the decision of the President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Ahmad Lawan, accepting the judgment of the court which disqualified his candidacy and his participation in the election.
