Wike loyalists withdraw from Atiku campaign

The Peoples Democratic Party crisis took another turn as loyalists to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State withdrew from Atiku Abubakar’s campaign council.

Speaking after a lengthy meeting which began around 7pm last night and ended around 2am this morning at Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, Wike loyalists vowed not to participate in Atiku’s campaign activities until party chairman Iyorchia Ayu resigns.

Channels Television reported that those present at the landmark rally at Wike’s residence in Port Harcourt include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; former governors Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Donald Duke of Cross River, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe and Jonah Jang of Plateau;

Others in the meeting are older statesmen, Olabode George, Jerry Gana; PDP South-South Chairman Dan Orbih; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche; Senator Suleiman Nazif, Nnenna Ukeje, among several others.

The leader of the Lagos PDP, Chief Olabode George is said to have read the statement from the group.
