We use biscuits, magical rings to abduct children and take them to an Islamic cleric in Lagos - 16-year-old kidnap suspect tells Ondo court

An Ondo State Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Akure, Ondo State, has remanded a 16-year-old boy, Lekan Mustapha and his guardian, Zulum Yisa, on suspicion of kidnapping.

The teenager, during his arraignment on Tuesday, February 28, told the court that they used cookies and magic rings to abduct nine children and took the victims to an Islamic cleric in the Ikorodu area, in Lagos State.

The suspects were arrested by men from the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, in Oka-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko Local Government Area in northwest of the state, in February 2023 and arraigned in court on one count of kidnapping. .

During the proceedings, the state’s attorney. OF Akeredolu, informed the court that the defendants were involved in kidnappings, adding that they had confessed to abducting up to nine children.

He said the offense committed contravened Sections 3(ii)b and 6 of the Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping and Kidnapping Act 2010.

Mustapha told the court that he worked for Yisa, who is a union member working for a certain Alfa in Lagos.

He said the Alfa gave Yisa a magic ring which they used to hypnotize victims.

I started living with Yisa after my parents died a few years ago to survive, and we both came here from Ilorin,” he said.

“Whenever we want to kidnap our victim, Yisa gives me cookies to lure the children and lure them to him. And immediately he uses his lucky ring to beat them, they become unconscious. Normally we transfer them (the victims) in Alfa (in Ikorodu) We kidnapped up to nine children.

The prosecutor asked the court to remand the defendants to the Olokuta Correctional Center until the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In his decision, the magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, ordered Yisa’s dismissal to the correctional center.

He also ordered that the teenager be taken to the remand center for minors until the outcome of the opinion of the general prosecutor’s office.

He adjourned the case until March 28, 2023, for notice.
