We are investigating the alleged threat of MC Oluomo against Igbo – Lagos CP
The Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, said an investigation had been opened into the alleged threat made against Igbo.
Owohunwa made this known during an interview with Arise TV on Friday, March 17, as he discussed the state police command’s readiness to secure voters in the Saturday, March 18 election in governorship and the State House of Assembly.
LIB previously reported that MC Oluomo in a viral video threatened that Igbo people living in Lagos would not bother to go to the polls if they did not do so for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party. .
In the video, MC Oluomo said,
“Please tell them, we begged them. If they don’t vote for us, it’s not a fight. Tell them Chukwudi’s mother, if you don’t vote for us, sit at home. Do you understand? Sit at home.
Reacting to the ‘threat’ today, CP Owohunwa said
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms any act, statement or action that could be construed as hate speech or could be construed as deepening political tension, regardless of the mastermind that may be behind it. Regarding this specific video you mentioned, it is currently under detailed investigation.
The police chief also issued a warning note to anyone who brews violence in the state, stressing that they should abstain or face the wrath of the law, adding that law enforcement officers order will spare no offender.
“Of course, we are deploying our access to cybersecurity to solve this problem. And, I can assure you that no one is above the law. This country is regulated. Anyone who tries to use their position or influence over others to deepen hatred or engender political tension which could, of course, snowball into violence, it remains the responsibility and mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to investigate. on such cases.
The one you mentioned will not be isolated. This is already a topic for review. And it will be in the interests of the actors behind this and anyone else who might wish to engage in such indirect and misinformed action as well to be very careful, to be firmly warned because over time the full law will take its course and it will be no different in this case if it is established,” Owohunwa said.
