Umahi fires aides 48 hours after election

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has sacked the board members of the agencies, commissions and 64 development center coordinators in the state.

Although the reason for the dismissal was not disclosed, those affected were asked to submit on all government property, including official vehicles in their possession by the close of business on Monday, March 20.

A statement signed by Ebonyi State Cabinet Secretary Dr Ugbala Kenneth reads as follows;

“Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has approved the immediate disbandment of the Development Center Boards, Commissions and Coordinators, with the exception of the Ebonyi State University Board of Trustees.

“In light of the foregoing, Development Center Coordinators shall deliver all government property in their possession, including their official vehicles, to the office of the State Government Secretary and Coordinating Commissioner no later than at the close of business on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

“Similarly, councils and commissions must return government property in their possession to their line ministries no later than the close of business on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.”
