Sources who spoke to The Nation said the incident happened at the border between Ezza North and Ishielu local government areas on Thursday morning September 15, 2022.

The attackers reportedly killed two police officers during the attack while others were injured.

The gunmen also reportedly burned a police Hilux van during the incident.

“Unknown gunmen clashed this morning with Nigerian Police men at a checkpoint between the border of Ndiagu Ogboji and Agba communities of Ebonyi State,” the source said.

“According to unconfirmed reports, approximately two police officers were shot while others suffered varying degrees of gunshot wounds. The UGM also set fire to the police operational vehicle.”

When contacted, state police spokesman Chris Anyanwu said he had no details of the incident, adding that the command had sent a team to the area to determine what had happened. past.
