A Magistrate’s Court in Ebute Metta in Lagos State remanded two brothers, Daniel and Evans, on Sunday for allegedly poisoning their friend, Murani Talemu.
The police pursuit team led by Inspector Orobosa Osagiede told the court that the brothers gave the deceased a concoction suspected of being poison and that he subsequently died. He said officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death arrested the brothers who confessed to the crime, adding that the offenses contravened Sections 411 and 217 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

“That you, Daniel Sunday, Evans Sunday and others still at large, on 7th October 2022, at approximately 7 a.m., in Oba-Animashaun Street, Epe, Lagos State, Magisterial District, unlawfully killed a Mureni Talemu, in him forcibly administered a concoction suspected of being a poison and thereby committed an offense punishable under Section 217 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State in Nigeria, 2015.”
The magistrate, Bola Folarin-Williams, ordered that the brothers be remanded in custody until a notice from the State’s Department of Public Prosecutions was received, then adjourned the case until December 9. 2022.
