Toilet cleaner Hypo plans to hold hygiene awareness rally in 5 cities
As part of announced plans to commemorate the upcoming World Toilet Day 2022, Hypo Toilet Cleaner, the staple of Hypo Homecare Products Ltd – the makers of Hypo Bleach – has released a statement to hold an awareness rally in 5 cities : Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and Ibadan, regarding the safe use of toilets.
This year’s theme is “Making the Invisible Visible” which concerns itself with the sanitation crisis facing Nigeria and how poorly managed sanitation systems are spreading human waste into rivers, lakes and soil, contaminating the water resources below our feet with toxic substances. .
Today, 3.6 billion people around the world still live with substandard toilets that compromise their health and affect the environment. The link between open defecation and groundwater cannot be overlooked – which is what the Hypo Toilet Cleaner’s awareness walk is all about so everyone can be swept away.
On Friday, November 19, Hypo Toilet Cleaner will lead a movement simultaneously in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and Ibadan with the support of National Youth Corps members in all 5 cities. They will take to the streets to educate Nigerians about the long-term harmful effects of open defecation on our country and people, while celebrating the existence of toilets and promoting good toilet hygiene.
The march is planned to cover a distance of 5 kilometers and urges Nigerians to support the brand by taking action to address global sanitation crises, which is in line with the global effort to achieve the goal of UN Sustainable Development 6: “Water and Sanitation for All by 2023”
Few celebrities will join the march like Alex Asogwa aka AlexUnusual, Nigerian Reality TV Star, Host and Actress, Harrison Okiri aka Harry’s song popular Nigerian afro-pop singer and songwriter, and Omar B. Ametaalso a Nigerian musical artist who will be live to entertain the crowd from start to finish.
Hypo Toilet Cleaner is a strong hygiene advocate and brand boldly promoting the safe use of toilets in Nigeria. The brand initiated the “Toilet Rescue Project” in 2021, during which representatives of Hypo Toilet Cleaner visited neighborhoods in Lagos State and built and renovated toilets in schools and communities.
For greater social impact and deeper penetration, in early 2022 Hypo Toilet Cleaner took the program a notch higher to introduce “Hypo Toilet Rescue Volunteer Program” in special partnership with NYSC Lagos. Through this program, NYSC Corps members voluntarily sought out public schools with poor or vulnerable sanitation systems. Hypo Toilet Cleaner then stepped in to build the toilets and improve the hygiene of the community, and has saved around 90 toilets, 10 bathrooms and 2 changing rooms to date.
