Plateau Speaker loses seat to PDP female candidate

The Speaker of the Plateau State Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Yakson Sanda, lost his re-election bids.

Sanda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was beaten by Ms Happiness Akawu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s elections for the Pengana State constituency seat.

Akawu won 9,926 votes in Saturday’s National Assembly election to defeat Sanda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, who garnered 7,936 votes.

Hon. PRP’s Faisal Haruna got 6,721 votes while Hon. Dankama of the Labor Party received 1,028 votes.

The INEC returning officer thus declared Akawu the winner of the election with the highest number of votes.
