The family announces the death of Bukka Hut co-owner, Laolu Martins
The family of Laolu Martins, one of the co-founders of Bukka Hut, one of Nigeria’s leading fast food chains, has announced his death.
A statement released by the family on Wednesday said the banker par excellence with more than 21 years of experience in investment banking, corporate banking, brokerage, asset management and pension fund management, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
“We hereby ask for everyone’s support and understanding as the family mourns the loss of our beloved Laolu in our private lives.
“Our kind request is that you support the family – wife, children, aging mother and father and siblings with your prayers at this difficult time.
“Further announcements will be made by the family,” the statement read.
Martins began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999.
He joined Investment Banking & Trust Company Plc now Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc where he served in the Bank’s Financial Control and Trade Finance/Foreign Operations Units before being seconded to Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd where he was was on several occasions Financial Controller, Head of Asset Management and finally Head of Stockbroking.
He then resigned in 2005 to join Shell Nig. CPFA Ltd, the fund manager of the Shell Companies in Nigeria Pensions Scheme where he was responsible for investments until 2008 when he resigned to join Nigeria International Security Limited, NISL, an independent financial services company specializing in investments in the Nigerian space.
