A Bill for the establishment of three additional Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ekiti State has been passed by the National Assembly.
This came after the adoption of a report by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The Bill titled “A Bill for One Bill for the Establishment of Three Local Council Development Areas in Ekiti (Amendment) Bill, 2022”, seeks to create the following LCDAs; Eso Obe, headquartered in Ikoro Ekiti; Ikole, headquartered in Usin-Ekiti; and Ayede, headquartered in Ayede Ekiti.
The committee recommended that the headquarters of the current Igbara Odo/Ogotun LCDA be moved from Oke Agbe to Igbara Odo. He also urged the state government to consider the aspirations of the people of Osi Ekiti and surrounding areas for the creation of Osi LCDA from the existing Ido Osi local government.
