Suspected kidnapper arrested while buying food in Kwara
A suspected kidnapper, Umaru Mohammed (20), who was arrested while buying food and slippers in Oro in Irepodun LGA, has been charged with two counts of criminal conspiracy and removal.
A First Information Report (FIR) revealed that Mohammed was arrested after a certain Ibrahim Umar complained that two of his sons, Umaru Ibrahim (14) and Yusuf Ibrahim (four), had been abducted by the suspect and two others, Babangida and Laagi.
Testifying in court, the prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni said;
“They then demanded a ransom of 30 million naira but were paid 400,000 naira after negotiation. However, the suspect was later arrested in Oro where he went to buy food and slippers.
“N52,000 was found on him after a search as part of the ransom he collected and confessed to during the investigation.”
The magistrate, Isah, dismissed the suspect and adjourned until November 30, 2022.
