Suspected Fulani militiamen kill young woman two months after graduation in Plateau
A young woman identified as Satmun Gyokos was among the locals killed by suspected Fulani militias who attacked the Maikatako community in Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
According to friends and former classmates, Satmum graduated from Federal College of Education, Pankshin two months ago.
Command spokesman DSP Alfred Alabo, who confirmed the incident to reporters in Jos on Wednesday November 16, said the gunmen killed a family of nine and many others.
Alabo said the gunmen stormed the community on Tuesday evening and began firing sporadically.
The PPRO said men from the command had been deployed to the community to ensure calm.
“Our men are currently pursuing the attackers; we are aware of the situation, but the details of the attack are still unclear,” he added.
However, Mr. Mahanan Job, a resident of the community, told NAN that so far during the search and rescue carried out by community members, 18 dead bodies have been found.
According to Job, there are serious tensions in the community, even with the presence of police and soldiers.
Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has ordered security forces to pursue the terrorists who attacked the village of Maikatako.
Governor Lalong, who condemned the attack, said the killers must be caught and brought to justice for the despicable act.
Lalong said the increasing incidence of attacks and destruction of agricultural crops, livestock and other properties in the general Bokkos region is becoming worrying and must be brought under immediate control.
While sympathizing with the families of the victims, the Governor reiterated that his administration will not allow terrorists and bandits to gain a foothold in any part of the state as all security agencies have been instructed to be firm and harsh on any person or group behind the crime. acts.
He again called on communities to always be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to security agencies for immediate action, especially during the upcoming Christmas season.
