“If the crescent is sighted by Muslims of blameless character on said evening, then His Eminence will declare Thursday, March 23, 2023 as the first day of Ramadan 1444 AH
“If, however, the crescent is not sighted on that day, then Friday, March 24, 2023 will automatically become the first day of Ramadan.
“Furthermore, the council urges Muslim politicians to show a spirit of brotherhood and solidarity, two elements which represent some of the main lessons of Ramadan.
“Let those who emerged victorious in the elections which have just ended remember that it is Allah Almighty who grants power to whomever He wills.
“Furthermore, those who have lost must accept it with faith and resist any action that may cause disaffection and disunity within the Ummah.
“The Council also calls on endowed Muslims across the country to extend their acts of charity to the less privileged in their neighborhoods before, during and after the month of Ramadan. We also urge traders not to hoard food items or unduly increase the prices of consumer goods during the fasting period.
