Sole female member of Gombe State Assembly loses re-election bid
The only female member of the Gombe State Assembly, Asma’u Ignanus of the All Progressives Congress, lost her bid for re-election.
Ignanus, who represents Shongom constituency in the State House of Assembly, lost his seat to Ayala Pilate of the Peoples Democratic Party, who won the assembly ballot held on Saturday March 18.
According to a list made available by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday, the PDP won four of the 24 seats in the Gombe State Assembly.
Ignanus, who is a former commissioner for women’s affairs and social development, was previously part of the PDP but defected to the APC after winning his election in 2019.
