Slavia Prague coach slams Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka for headbutting opponent

Slavia Prague head coach Jindřich Trpišovský has slammed Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka for headbutting a Slovakian Liberec defender which cost his side three points and left him earned a red card in the Fortuna Liga.

The 27-year-old was shown a red card in the 89th minute of the match as Slavia led 2-1. The Slavists then conceded a goal after his dismissal.

Liberec opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Lukáš Červ scored through a deflection from compatriot Igho Ogbu, but Olayinka equalized in the 30th minute.

In the 65th minute, Slavia then took the lead when Olaiynka was knocked down in the box and the Red-Whites were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Mick van Buren.

Nigeria striker Victor Olatunji then saved a point for Liberec in the fifth minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2.

Reacting to Olayinka’s dismissal in his post-match match, Slavia coach Trpišovský blamed his unruly behavior.

“We will deal with it clearly. It was when we were 2-1 up, there is no reason for such a reaction,” Trpišovský told Slavia’s official website.

“Besides, he was one of the best and most active players in the game, but we should see the big picture and finish it differently.

“There was no reason for such a reaction, whether he was fouled or not, that’s a question, a judgment call, but he can’t react like that. It’s a thing he sent us into, which caused the way we finished, another thing is that we will miss him in the next games.

“It’s an incomprehensible short circuit that has never happened to him in the five years he’s been here.

“We will definitely take care of it with him, I wonder what is the reason he reacted like that in the first place.”

The Nigeria international has scored 10 league goals with five assists in 18 league appearances this season.
