Oluwashina Akanbi Peters (born 30 May 1958), also known professionally as Sir Shina Peters, is a renowned and celebrated Nigerian singer, songwriter and performing artist. He is often called the oba of Nigerian music.

Youth and education
Emmanuel Adakun Peters and Victoria Asake Peters welcomed Sir Shina Peters into the world on May 30, 1958 in Ogun State, South West Nigeria.
He attended Ebenezer African Church School, ijoko-Ota in Ogun State for his primary education and Olivet Baptist Boys Secondary School in Oyo and later transferred to St. Peters School in Ogun State. ‘Abeokuta for his high school education.
At the age of nine, Sir Shina Peters began his musical career singing with his twelve brothers in their native language and attending various music festivals throughout his state under the stage name Olushina. At 19, he joined Ebenezer Obey’s band after learning to play guitar and piano as an autodidact.
After making history and breaking through with Ebenezer Obey, he later joined General Prince Adekunle’s band as a guitarist who played in almost all the elite and prestigious hotels in Lagos such as Western Hotel, Palm Beach and Executive Hotel and occasionally reprized the role of Adekunle. as a singer whenever he feels sick.
He later left the Prince General Adekunle group to form a group recognized as Shina Adewale with his brother Segun Adewale. The two parted ways after releasing numerous albums in 1980, of which The Road to Freedom is one. He then formed his own band called Sir Shina Peters and his International Stars.
Shina Peters released her first studio album (afro juju series 1), Ace, in 1989. An album produced by Laolu Akins under CBS Records of Nigeria, of which Ijo Shina was the best track and was very popular, followed by Shinamania in 1990, which was the bestseller.
He had singles such as Oluwa Yo Pese, Omo Bo and Give Our Woman a Chance. Shina Peters had sold millions of albums worldwide including South Africa, Europe, Germany, UK, Italy and United States of America. He remains the most highly regarded respected music producer in his category to date and is currently signed to Orbit Entertainment, an American agency based in New York.
His outstanding flow of songs, beats, beats and rhymes has earned him multiple awards, uniqueness, contracts, various international recognitions and sponsorship deals.
Sir Shina Peters starred in a Nollywood movie produced by Ola Balogun labeled MONEY POWER in 1982 and has released over fifteen (15) albums to date. He is well known and respected in the music industry.
Sir Shina Peters is a Christian married to a Nigerian Nollywood actress, Clarion Chukwura from Anambra State who he has had eyes with since joining the Nollywood industry. The couple have given birth to a son (Clarence Peter) who is an award-winning Nigerian music video director and also the older brother of Yomi Peters, a Nigerian musician based in the United States.
He then married Sammie Ayoka Peters in 1983 and their union is blessed with children named Seyi Peters and Clinton Peters.
Veteran juju singer Sir Shina Peters once had a falling out with the late Funmi Martins (mother of actress Mide Martins) who died in 2002 over the allegation of an abandoned son she was carrying for him named Oluwadamilare .
