Senate Speaker Ahmad Lawan loses as court declares Machina APC Yobe northern senatorial candidate

Bashir Machina was recognized as the nominee for Yobe North Senate candidate following a judgment by a Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.

The Congress of All Progressives was ordered by Judge Fadima Murtala Aminu to submit Machina’s name to the Independent and National Electoral Commission as the genuine winner of the primary held on 05/28/2022.

The Nation reported that the High Court judge called the primary election in which Senate President Ahmad Lawan became the party’s senatorial candidate a “ghost”.
