Retired policeman’s son and another abducted in Edo
The son of a retired police officer, Chief James Omafuaire, and another man were abducted on their way from Ugbokuli to Ekiadolor in the North East Local Government Area of Ovia in the Edo State, yesterday March 23rd.
Bernard Omafuaire and the other man were transporting palm products in a truck to a place where they were attacked by the kidnappers. The truck driver fled into the bush.
The distraught father told The Nation;
“I have an oil palm farm in the area. My son has left for the harvest. He loaded the palm fruits into the truck, while he joined a motorbike, driving behind the truck.
“The truck driver suddenly saw the armed men, jumped out of the truck and fled into the bush. My son and the cyclist were unaware of what was happening ahead, and they ran into the kidnappers, who took them away.
“I tried my son’s line, but it didn’t work. No one contacted me. I called the police control room, but was told to make an official report to the Ekiadolor police station. I pray and hope they won’t get hurt. The kidnappers should please release them quickly and unconditionally.
