President of France, Emmanuel Macron congratulates Bola Tinubu on his emergence as Nigeria’s elected president
French President Emmanuel Macron has congratulated Nigeria’s President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu, on his victory in the February 25 elections.
The president-elect confirmed this to reporters after presenting his return certificate to President Buhari at his country house, Daura, in Katsina state on Wednesday evening March 1.
Recall that Tinubu had earlier Wednesday received the certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja before embarking on the trip to Daura alongside its elected Vice-President, Senator Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu, who was reacting to questions about the congratulatory messages he had received so far since his declaration by the CENI as president-elect, said
“Oh very much, a lot of that, in fact as far as Europe, the stock market did react positively, there was a message of goodwill from Macron, the president of France.”
During his mission to Daura, the President-elect declared
“I came to present him with the certificate of returning (Buhari) as party leader and to commend his efforts to support democracy in Africa.”
