Police Service Commission reinstates 10 dismissed police officers

The Police Services Commission (CSP) has reinstated at least 10 police officers who were sacked by the Gendarmerie for various offences.

The reinstatement decision was taken during the 17th Plenary which ended in Abuja on Friday, November 11, 2022 and was chaired by its Acting President, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi.

Acting President of the SCC, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi (Rtrd), told reporters in Abuja on Thursday, November 17 that the commission had considered the appeals of 18 police officers and only 10 could be reinstated.

While the commission converted the dismissal of the two staff members into retirement, six appeals were dismissed as unfounded.

Ogunbiyi, who revealed that the commission would ensure that no officer was unfairly punished, also announced that the commission had approved the promotion of 48 PSC staff.

She says;

“The Commission will continue to ensure that appeals and petitions from aggrieved or terminated officers are handled diligently so that no officer is unfairly punished for unnecessary delay.

“Promotions of Commission staff will remain punctual and regular, but call for reciprocity among staff through better commitment in the performance of their duties.

“There is a lot of work to be done within the Commission and greater dedication is required from all staff.”
