Police confirm killing of PDP chairman by political thugs in Ebonyi
The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State’s North Ezza Local Government Area, Peter Nweke.
BIB reported that Nweke died from injuries he sustained in attacks by suspected political thugs on Saturday during the gubernatorial and assembly elections.
Command spokesman Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the developments in a statement on Sunday, said Nweke was beaten and taken unconscious to hospital where he was later pronounced dead by a doctor.
The PPRO said police have opened an investigation into the death with a view to arresting and prosecuting those responsible.
