Police confirm attack on Bauchi governor’s aide by gunmen

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that the Senior Special Assistant for Christian Religious Affairs to the Governor of Bauchi State, Zakka Luka Magaji, was attacked by gunmen.

Command spokesman SP Ahmed Wakili said the gunmen numbering about seven stormed the victim’s residence in Birshin, a community in the state.

Wakili said the police commissioner ordered the DPO’s E Division to act immediately after command received a distress call at exactly 12:13 p.m. Friday that the governor’s aide’s house had been attacked by armed men.

He said;

“On receipt of the distress call, the Commissioner of Police ordered the DPO’s E-division to act immediately. The DPO led his team with other tactical commanders such as the RRS B-division, for a rapid intervention forcing the armed men to flee into the surrounding bush.

“A 32-year-old man, a member of Christian Life Church living with Zakka, was injured during the operation.

“Police officers were at the crime scene where three spent 7.6mm ammunition shells were recovered.”

Wakili, who disclosed that personnel at the scene of the rescue operation transported the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Hospital for medical treatment, assured locals that their patrol will be intensified in search for authors.
