Police arrest two suspected kidnappers trying to collect ransom in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command arrested two suspected kidnappers, Mohammed Aminu and Salisu Sa’idu, as they attempted to obtain a ransom from their victim’s family.

Command Spokesperson, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, who disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, September 20, said the suspects abducted a Jibrin Muhammad from Taraba State.

“Detectives attached to X SCID Gombe Squad, while acting on credible information, intercepted a certain Mohammed Aminu from Tudun Wada Gombe neighborhoods collecting a ransom of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000) after the sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) was paid into a Jaiz bank account number bearing Mohammed Al’amin Muhammad,” the statement read.

“During the investigation, the suspect revealed that he and a Saidu Salisu alias Soja and Turkani, conspired criminally and armed themselves with three AK47 rifles. They then abducted a Jibrin Muhammad from Bantaje village via Wukari LGA from Taraba State and collected the sum of N4,000,000 as a ransom.

“After investigation, Salisu Sa’idu was apprehended in Kano State by detectives from SCID Gombe. The matter is being investigated after which they will be brought to justice.”

The PPRO called on the good people of the state to continue to partner with the police by taking a keen interest in matters of their personal safety and the safety of their neighborhood, and also by providing useful information on the activities of any suspicious individuals or groups.
