Police arrest 32 suspects for armed robbery and assault in Minna

The Niger State Police Command has arrested 32 suspects for crimes of violence and armed robbery in Minna, the state capital.

Command Spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who made it known in a statement on Friday, March 17, 2023, said the suspects were arrested during raids on hotspots in different neighborhoods of Minna.

“In addition to the command’s house-to-house raid operations, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji, psc (+), this undercover operation will be an exercise aimed at ensuring a lasting peace atmosphere in the metropolis of Minna and more specifically to also ensure a guaranteed peaceful environment for the March 18 elections for Governor and House of Assembly in Niger State,” says the press release.

“Therefore, on 03/16/2023 at approximately 11:55 p.m., the Command Operations Department, in conjunction with other tactical teams, conducted another raid operation at Angwan-Roka, Timber-Shed Maitumbi, Tudun- Natsira, New Market, Dugudu Maitumbi.

Exhibits recovered from suspects include; seven cutlasses, three saw blades, three knives, two scissors, three horns, six shisha pots/pipes, six telephones, military camouflage pants and sticks, among other items.

“All suspects are in custody at SCID Minna and are being investigated and will also be arraigned for armed robbery offenses as they typically engage in blocking the junction of flamingos and other areas to rob unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables.” the added PPRO.
