PDP’s Peter Mbah declared winner of Enugu guber election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Peter Mbah the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election in Enugu State.

According to the results announced by the returning officer, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo-Iwe, who is the vice-chancellor of the University of Agriculture Michael Okpara Umudike, Mbah garnered 160,895 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labor Party (LP) which scored 157,552 while Uche Nnaji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 14,575 votes.

As it stands, the results of 26 of the 28 gubernatorial elections have been announced. APC won in 15 states, PDP in nine, LP in one while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won Kano. Elections in Kebbi and Adamawa were declared inconclusive.
