Painter jailed for two months for stealing four Bibles and 14 Capricorn drinks from church
A A 30-year-old painter, Zakaraya Usman was sentenced Tuesday (May 25) to two months in prison for stealing four Bibles, 124 church membership forms and other items.
The prosecutor, MOS Osho, told the Kabusa Abuja court that the matter was reported to Durumi Police Station by Mr. David Usman, the head of security at Living Faith Church, Durumi I branch.
Usman who would have trespassing on church premises, was charged with stealing three mini bibles, a large bible, 14 Caprisonne drinks, two bottles of water, 18 testimonial certificates and 124 church membership forms church. He also stole security vests, two shirts, two jackets, two handkerchiefs, two bags and cash.
During the police investigation, all the items were recovered from him.
Magistrate’s Court Judge Malam Abubakar Sadiq sitting in Kabusa, Abuja handed down the sentence to the accused after pleading guilty to the charge.
Usman was given the option of serving his prison sentence or paying a 10,000 naira fine. Sadiq also advised the convict not to repeat the act and warned that the court would not be lenient with him if he committed such a crime again.
