Osun government rescues 5-year-old girl abandoned by river
The Osun State government has rescued a five-year-old girl found abandoned near the Oba River in Iwo.
The Coordinating Director of the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs, Jide Falade, in a statement on Monday, November 14, 2022, revealed that the abandonment was reported to the ministry by a good Samaritan.
He said efforts by police and ministry officials to locate the girl’s parents had yielded no results.
“The case was reported to the ministry by a Good Samaritan on September 29, 2022. All efforts to trace the minor’s next of kin have been unsuccessful.” he added.
Falade therefore appealed to members of the public to help locate the parents of the abandoned child or one of the relatives.
