Three suspected oil thieves have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Rivers State Command, after they were caught with a large wooden boat and two vehicles loaded with illegally refined petroleum products .
Parading the suspects at the Ogbogoro exposure jetty in Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, State Commander Michael Ogar said the command seized a large boat in wood loaded with approximately 24,000 liters of illegally refined petroleum products – Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK).
The suspects loaded the illegally refined petroleum products in cellophane and concealed them in bags. The products were neatly arranged in the wooden boat in such a way that a layman would assume it was a passenger boat.

In a related development, the Ground Patrol Team arrested a 38-year-old Anayo Obasi man with a lemon-yellow minibus loaded with approximately 1,500 liters of Illegally Refined Automotive Gasoline (AGO) concealed in cellophane.
Commander Ogar added that another Toyota Camry loaded with around 1,500 liters of illegally refined automotive diesel (AGO) was seized at Abonnema Wharf by UTC Junction in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
He added that the suspects would be brought to justice once investigations are completed.
