A fake soldier was arrested by Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp, Keffi-Wambai, Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State for allegedly defrauding 22 people.
Moses Ayaka, 32, who was paraded at the NSCDC headquarters in Lafia by the commander, Abbas Bappa-Muhammed, on Wednesday, September 21, was arrested following a whistleblower.
Command Public Relations Officer DSC Jerry Victor said Ayaka was arrested on September 9, 2022 at around 5 p.m.
He was caught with various military items. The suspect confessed to the crime and told command that some of the items were sold to him by Lance Corporal (LCPL) Gabriel serving in Maiduguri, Borno State, and LCPL Daniel serving in Calabar, State. of Cross River.
He also confessed to defrauding more than 22 people out of N440,000. Ayaka blamed the devil and also pleaded for leniency.
Items recovered from the suspect include a camouflage suit, a P-Cap tie, a military indoor vest, a knife and a motorcycle that the suspect allegedly stole from one of his victims.
Jerry Victor said the suspect will be prosecuted after investigation.
