Navy kidnapped in Edo regains freedom
A marine sailor, Damian Ukpukpen, who was abducted in Edo State has regained his freedom.
Ukpukpen, a native of Ohong in Obudu Local Government Area in Cross River State, was abducted on September 26, 2022 in Benin city.
According to journalist Agba Jalingo, the naval rating was released around 3 a.m. on Monday, October 3, with other people abducted.
It was discovered that he accompanied a female senior naval officer as a medic from Warri, Delta State to Benin City for an official event.
The kidnappers allegedly stormed the hotel where they were staying and forcibly took him away at gunpoint.
A few days later, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 30 million naira as a condition of his release.
However, Mr Jalingo said no ransom was paid for his release.
