Nasarawa NNPP Chieftain shot dead in suspected assassination attempt
Former Nasarawa Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Musa Ibrahim-Abubakar survived an alleged assassination attempt.
The politician was traveling to Doma from Rukubi town, where he had gone to donate relief materials to flood victims, when he was attacked.
He said the attack happened around 5:30 p.m. around Igbabo village.
According to him, nine gunmen opened fire and one of the bullets hit the mobile phone in his breast pocket. Another hit his elbow and my back.
He fled to Igbabo village where locals took him to hospital.
Several bullets were removed from his body, with medics scrambling to remove another lodged under his ribs, he said.
The NNPP leader added that the attack could be the work of his political opponents.
He recently left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) where he won the ticket for the Doma South House of Assembly seat.
