The latest episode of Naija Star Search was designed to calm the nerves of the contestants after weeks of battles that reduced the number of contestants from 17 to 5.
The Top 5 competitors performed to everyone’s delight, showcasing their creative agility.
Skimzo, Eniola, Kachi, GreySky and Melo are the last guys standing, comprising three men and two women. Before the show kicked off in September, only five women entered the competition out of 17 contestants. The judges have been criticized for ignoring gender balance. But as the show enters its final stages, the ladies have shown they are amazons.
Eniola, the lady with the big voice, is undoubtedly one of the best contestants in Naija Star Search. She always dominates the stage with her presence, her voice and her dance moves. She amazes the judges with her hot lyrics and moves, and the audience is thrilled. Its voice control is second to none. The judges’ remarks on his performance still cheer him up. They think she’s already a superstar.
GreySky, the lady with Grace, made her way through this round of competition with consistency. She gets better with every performance, a sign of diligence and hard work.
In the final episode, GreySky wowed the judges with her performance, so much so that ID Cabasa had to punch Asha Gangali. GreySky is original, and it has come a long way. She can pick up and follow the beats even when her words fail her. It worked well for her in the competition.
The judges pointed out that GreySky was in the competition not by mistake, following the circumstances of her emergence as one of the 17 contestants, but because she has what it takes to compete in Naija Star Search.
Kachi, the calm demeanor and always smiling guitarist, is considered one of the contenders for the star award. Rehearsing with Kachi is always fun because he already knows the basics of good music. He knows how to take and put down notes and what it means to sit on the sidelines. Kachi vibrates differently, stable on the mic, and her lyrical tone is mesmerizing.
Melo is an embodiment of Afrobeats talent. Her consistency in dropping hits with every performance, her vocal clarity and songwriting skills are top notch.
Skimzo, with the signature “you already know”, is a special breed of Afrobeats artist when it comes to competition. He has been consistent in his performances and the audience supports him because of his style. Skimzo is deeply rooted in the street vibes that resonate with Afropop music lovers in Naija. When Skimzo takes the stage, everyone goes wild in ecstasy.
In the next episode, the finalists for the November 27 final show will be announced.
