Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese Matthew Kukah said his nephew and a driver who were abducted more than three months ago are still in captivity.
Kukah revealed this on Monday, September 19, 2022, during the ongoing High Level Forum on Political Communication and Thematic Campaigning in the 2023 General Elections in Abuja.
In his keynote address, the Bishop said the incident happened along the Kadiuna-Abuja road when his nephew and his sick wife were coming to Abuja for treatment.
The kidnappers however did not kidnap his nephew’s wife due to her condition, but abducted her nephew and the driver who was taking them to Abuja.
He also revealed that the kidnappers asked for 50 million naira but then fell to 20 million naira.
Kukah also disclosed that he had to spend over 30 million naira to secure the release of some priests working under him who were also kidnapped.
Also present were the Speaker of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Femi Gbajabiamila and many others.
