Billionaire rapper, music producer and fashion designer Kanye West has denied reports that he has put his music catalog up for sale.

Billboard reported on Monday, Sept. 19, that members of the rapper’s team “have selectively met with potential buyers to explore what kind of valuation his catalog of songs might get,” estimating they’re looking for $175 million. .

But Kanye took to Instagram on Tuesday night to question Billboard’s report that he was quietly seeking buyers for his music catalog.

Writing on Instagram Stories, Ye said:

“Just like Taylor Swift…my posts are being put up for sale without my knowledge.”

In another Instagram Story, West posted a screenshot of a text message with an anonymous person, with West asking, “Can you ask Gee who’s selling my post,” likely referring to his manager Gee Roberson.

“Fake news,” the person replies. “Of course, every publisher wants to launch the hardest to buy out there. Hmm.

West’s situation is different from Taylor Swift’s because Swift’s publishing catalog never went on sale.

Instead, Taylor Swift’s manager, Scooter Braun, had acquired her former “Big Machine” label and all of her recorded musical assets in 2019, including Swift’s masters.
