Missing INEC employees found dead in Anambra
A staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Duruocha Osita Joel, missing in Anambra State, has been found dead.
Duruocha, was a Senior General Manager II at Level 10. He was declared missing on Wednesday, September 28. Sadly, his body was found along the Isu-Aniocha-Urum road in Awka North Local Government Area.
A statement by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Voter Information and Education Committee, Festus Okoye, read;
“On Wednesday September 28, 2022, the Administrative Secretary of the Commission in Anambra State, Mr. Okwuonu Jude, reported the disappearance of a staff member, Mr. Duruocha Osita Joel, Chief Executive Officer II at Level 10.
On Thursday, September 29, the Administrative Secretary further informed the Commission that the body of Mr. Duruocha was found along the Isu-Aniocha-Urum road in Awka North Local Government Area in the State of Anambra, where strangers threw him.
Other Commission staff, Duruocha’s brother, and police evacuated the body and deposited it in the morgue. Police and other security agencies have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to Duruocha’s disappearance and eventual death,” the statement read in part.
