Member of House of Assembly, 163 others arrested for trying to destroy INEC office in Kano
Kano Assembly Member, Isyaku Danja was arrested for allegedly leading a team of thugs to destroy the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rally center in the Gezawa local government area of the state.
Danja, who represents Gezawa constituency, was arrested along with 163 other people. Kano Police Commissioner Husaini Gummel, while parading about 164 people arrested for various political crimes during the conduct of the recently concluded gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections, explained that the people marching were accused of stealing ballot boxes, disrupting elections and carrying dangerous weapons. and engage in drug-related crimes.
Gummel also said they would be investigated and prosecuted accordingly. He said;
“As part of our activities to ensure the peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections, we are parading suspects arrested for various violations during the elections.
“They were arrested for stealing ballots, disrupting voting, handling dangerous weapons while some were caught with drugs.
“Among those arrested is a member of the State Legislative Assembly, Isyaku Danja from Gezawa Constituency, who led a team of thugs and attempted to destroy the INEC collection center in Gezawa. “
