Media Personality Chude Jideonwo Presents “Awaiting Trial”

“About 12 years ago, Toyin Oyemade invited me and others to an outreach event at Kirikiri Prisons in Lagos, Nigeria.

At the prison, I heard the most heartbreaking story of the inmate I was assigned to help.

He had been in prison for over a decade. He was arrested before the phones reached Nigeria and has been awaiting trial ever since – his family in the north unsure whether he is dead or alive.

I knew somewhere in my heart that if I ever followed the call to make movies, and no one had told this story yet, this was the first movie I was going to make.

Here we are in 2022 and I am deeply grateful to my partners, my crew and the courageous cast for the privilege of making this dream a reality.

After two years of sincere work, we present to you ‘Awaiting Trial’ – the first film from our studio, Chude Jideonwo Presents.

Over the next 24 months, you’ll see a slate of factual, unscripted content from our studio — docuseries, docudramas, biopics, reality soaps, stand-up, true crime — that tell the stories of our shared humanity. in a way that connects deeply with audiences from Africa and Africa.

There are so many untold stories in the headlines every day that tell us something meaningful about who we are and how we got here. But as we struggle to survive, we don’t go beyond the headlines and find deeper truths.

We will tell these stories.
