Man dies after fort and codeine overdose at birthday party in Lagos
Three suspects have been arrested after a 21-year-old man identified as Micheal Arigbabuwo died of an overdose at a birthday party in Lagos.
Lagos Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin said the incident happened on Friday, September 23 in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The deceased, who had overdosed on fort and codeine, reportedly began to gasp before being rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead.
This led to the arrest of the anniversary celebrant, Ademola Adesina, 23, and two other friends identified as Abdulqudus Salawiudeen, 24, and Damilare Adelana, 23, all residents of Ikorodu.
The corpse was evacuated and taken to Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy.
“Based on the information, teams of detectives visited and photographed the scene. Three young men aged 23 and 24 were arrested.
“The suspects claimed that the deceased allegedly smoked heavily and drank codeine at a birthday party of a friend of theirs held in Igbogbo neighborhood in Ikorodu.
“The suspects further claimed that the deceased began to gasp. He was rushed to hospital but died.
“Are you thinking of taking drugs? To rethink because nothing fruitful emanates from it.
“The investigation into the case has begun.”
