Male students protest segregation of boys and girls in Bauchi secondary schools
Male secondary school students are currently protesting in the streets of Bauchi against a new state government policy to separate boys from girls in schools.
Bauchi State Education Commissioner Mr Aliyu Tilde said the government has concluded plans to separate male and female students in secondary schools in the state.
Tilde, who revealed this while speaking to reporters after a meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC) in Bauchi, noted that the plan would only be carried out when and wherever possible.
He explained that the idea was to combat the moral decadence that has become common among secondary school students.
According to him, private schools would take inspiration from the initiative and separate the men who would follow their academic activities in one establishment and the women in another separate establishment.
