Lagos factory worker on the run after killing his friend over N300

A factory worker, Toheeb Kilani, has gone into hiding after allegedly stabbing his colleague, Emmanuel Ojo, to death during a dispute over N300 in Mushin area, Lagos State.

Punch reports the duo rode a motorbike to Kilani’s residence on Asabi Street, Mushin. After the motorcyclist carried Ojo and Kilani to their destination, he received payments from the friends and gave them N300 currency to split between them. However, in the process of dividing the money, an argument ensued which later escalated into a fight. During the scuffle, Kilani pulled out a box cutter and allegedly used it to stab Ojo in the neck.

After carrying out the crime, Kilani fled the scene, abandoning the victim, who was unconscious and bleeding on the ground. Ojo was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Ojo’s corpse was later handed over to officers from Olosan Police Station.

“The biker had no change so he gave them N300 to split between them and drove off. The money caused an argument and they started to fight.

One of them pulled out a box cutter and stabbed the other person. The suspect realized what he had done and fled but we tried to rush the victim to the hospital, but he died on the way.

Confirming the incident, State Police Command spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin said police were on the trail of the fleeing suspect.

“The incident happened around 1pm in Ashabi Street, Mushin, where a fight broke out between Toheeb Kilani and 20-year-old Emmanuel Ojo.

They had a misunderstanding and Kilani stabbed Ojo with an object and he collapsed. Ojo was rushed to General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on call.

The suspect has escaped and efforts to apprehend him are still ongoing.
