Lagos driver escapes death as Hilux rams stationary truck (video)
A driver escaped death after ramming his Hilux van into a stationary truck at Sandfill, opposite the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos State.
The crash happened around 7:50 a.m. on Thursday, September 29.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority spokesman Taofiq Adebayo said it took the intervention of agency officials to rescue the driver from the wreckage, adding that the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Adebayo said: “The accident happened this morning around the Oriental Hotel, inside Lekki. The accident happened between a truck and a Hilux van. The driver of the Hilux hit the truck and got stuck.
“Thanks to the rapid intervention of LASTMA officials in this area, the driver was rescued without any broken bones. But he had bruises on his body.
“Our men then handed him over to LASAMBUS officials, who took him to a nearby hospital for medical attention. We urge members of the public to ensure they do not accelerate excessively while driving.
“They need to remember that these are ’ember’ months and they need to be mindful of the traffic signs put up by the government.”
