Judge Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Crimes Court on Monday (September 19th) sentenced kidnapping ringleader Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans and his co-defendant Victor Aduba to 21 years in prison for kidnapping a Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia and collected $420,000 in ransom from his family.
They were charged with conspiracy and abduction of Hafia at around 5:30 p.m. on June 23, 2014 at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos.
They reportedly detained the victim and demanded a ransom of $2 million as a condition of his release
They pleaded not guilty to all four counts, but the judge found them guilty.
The judge felt that the sentence would have a chilling effect on other would-be kidnappers.
