A Kenyan woman living in Nairobi and a German national have walked away with Ksh100 each in the 2022 Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire promotion.

According to news publications from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Kenyan woman of Indian descent, Tajinder Dhanjal, is a housewife and mother of two and has been participating in the promotion for over 10 years.

She is the third Kenyan to win the prize since it started in 1999.

“This is a real blessing from God. I cannot explain how much I appreciate this,” she stated.

The other winner, Rolf Hartung from Germany, said that he has been participating for years and never thought that he would win one day.

“This is not only great joy but a great honor. I’m really surprised. I never thought that I would win one day. Thank you, Dubai. What a great start for the new year,” he noted.

They are the first winners in 2022 to win the wind-falling amount of money as other previous participants won a Mercedes S500 and Ksh1 million, among other high-end prizes.

Kenya has a history of its participants winning global competitions. Recently, a Kenyan identified as Takachar, founder of Safi Organics, received a bankrolling Ksh500 million from Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Takachar was the leader of a team that incepted a way of removing carbon dioxide from the air, a means of combating global warming.
