Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric, said the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not needed.
Gumi, who fielded questions from reporters at his Kaduna residence on the upcoming general elections in the country, also said it is not fair for ruling party presidential candidate Bola Tinubu to say that is his turn to become president of Nigeria.
“It’s not right that he says it’s his turn. It’s not about saying it’s my turn. Don’t say it’s my turn.
“He’s a good administrator, he can do it. The Muslim-Muslim ticket is useless. We all know. All these politicians are looking for votes. The Muslim-Muslim ticket has nothing to do with religion.
“Whether it works or not, I don’t want to prophesy, but there are a lot of obstacles. In fact, all political parties have obstacles. The Muslim-Muslim ticket is going to be a lab test that others may or may not imitate.
On Peter Obi, Gumi said he must reach out to other segments of Nigerians, adding that he must be everywhere and not leave politics to one region.
