INEC postpones Guber and House of Assembly polls at VGC until Sunday, March 19
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed the gubernatorial and state assembly elections in Victoria Garden City, VGC, Eti Osa Lagos State to Sunday, March 19.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Lagos, Olusegun Agbaje revealed this when speaking to reporters this afternoon.
“We had a problem during the presidential/national assembly elections, where our election official claimed he was taken hostage by a resident of VGC. Thus, most of them were hesitant to work in the field again. We have written to the estate management about this. Fortunately, our official came before 8:00 am to arrange the voting booth at the gate of the estate, but some people at the estate also did not feel safe to vote at the gate of the estate. I spoke with the estate leadership and also called the EO to discuss the way forward on over 6,000 voters and another directive from national headquarters that we should re-mobilize here tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. to conduct the elections. They have already ensured the safety of our staff.
