INEC declares APC’s Umar Namadi as elected governor of Jigawa
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Umar Namadi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Jigawa State gubernatorial election held on Saturday, March 18. Namadi, Deputy Governor and former Finance Commissioner of North-Western State garnered a total of 618,449 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Mustafa Lamido of the PDP who got 368,726 while Aminu Ringim of the Nigerian New People’s Party (NNPP) won 37,156 votes.
Namadi will replace incumbent Abubakar Badaru of the APC whose two eight-year terms end on May 29, 2023.
