INEC ad hoc staff gunned down by political thugs in Rivers
An Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad hoc staff member, Arumodum Julius Akoi, was shot dead by political thugs in Ward 7, Abua Central, Abua-Odual Local Government Area of Abua-Odual. Rivers State.
The incident occurred during the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, the ad hoc staff died while being rushed to hospital for treatment,
Spokesperson for the National Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the death of one person in Abual-Odual but gave no further details.
Meanwhile, friends took to Facebook to mourn the deceased.
“Since yesterday, all that’s been on my mind is, what if it was OLA J who had been actively involved in the political process, what would have happened to his young and fragile family and loved ones? ” a Living Olavokere Jamala, wrote Sunday in a post on Facebook.
