IMO police arrest five political thugs inside House member’s home, dangerous weapons recovered
Police officers attached to the Imo State Command arrested suspected armed political thugs who were allegedly employed to disrupt the presidential election which just ended on February 25 in the Ohaji/Egbema council area of the state.
A statement released by command spokesman Henry Okoye said the armed thugs were arrested during a raid on the Umorji country house of Hon. Kingsley Uju, representing Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency in the Abuja National Assembly.
He gave the names of the suspects as Henry Nwabueze, 40, from Umorji in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Achor David, 45, from Onitsha Mgbara in Ohaji/Egbema LGA and Tochukwu Obiego, 40, resident in Mgbara in Ohaji/Egbema. . Others include Clinton Ezekwe, 49, from Ohaji/Egbeme LGA and Onuorah Raphael, 33, from Ngor-Okpala LGA.
”Acting on credible intelligence, Hon. Kingsley Uju, Member of the House representing Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has hired mercenaries to warm up Polity and thwart the timetable of Presidential and National Assembly elections of February 25, 2023 in the State, the agents of the tactical teams of the command quickly embarked on a raid exercise on 24/02/2023 at around 8:00 p.m., in the house of the said Honorable Kingsley Uju in Umorji , Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, strongly suspected of being used as an operational base for suspected thugs to disrupt the electoral process”
Okoye said items recovered from them include a pump gun, three locally made guns, an HP printer, four laptops and documents containing voter registration details in Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West LGA. Other offending items recovered are 50 active cartridges, an LG remote, a power bank, a walkie-talkie, three external laptop keyboards, a Toyota Camry with registration number GWA574AZ and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA574AZ. NKK registration 837GK.
Eight mobile phones, a Belushi wristwatch, a ring and N15,000 in cash were also recovered.
